Although it is not Burmese, the Chantilly cat is often confused with the semi-long haired Burmese cat. This cat is a cross-breed of chocolate-coloured cats whose origins remains unknown.

The Chantilly cat cross-breeding was performed in 1969 in New York and after that spread rapidly into Florida and Canada due to its gaining popularity.

It was first registered under the term “foreign long hair” which was later changed to Tiffany. But since the British had already named a crossbreed between a Chinchilla Persian and a Burmese with the same name, the name was changed to Chantilly, and the cat is currently known as Chantilly/Tiffanie.

Chantilly Cat Personality:

It is a medium and moderate-looking cat which has no extremes. It has a broad head that has a modified edge, and that also features high cheek bones.

It also has medium-sized ears which are well spaced with furs coming out of the ears. Its oval golden eyes increase with intensity as the cat ages. The Chantilly cat has semi long hair and fur that also includes a thin or no undercoat.

Generally, a Chantilly cat looks like a long haired cat, but a close look will reveal its true identity. It weighs about 10 Ibs and has an outer layer that is soft, silky and smooth.

Tiffany Chantilly Cat:

It is a beautiful creature that comes in many colors that include blue, cinnamon, black, lilac and fawn. Her diet should be controlled to avoid her becoming too heavy or out of condition because her semi-long hair can easily conceal her obese status.

This cat is very soft and plush and is a favorite with many people.

Its full coat grows to its full potential by the time it reaches the 24 months threshold period. Its coat is much thicker on the hind legs, and its tail grows into a full plume making it look so fluffy and healthy.

Chantilly Cat Behaviours:

The Chantilly or tiffany chantilly cat is affectionate and has a good temperament although she is happy being left alone. She is not demanding at all, and she sometimes likes to chirp or talk to herself as if she is having a conversation. She is a playful cat that should be given room to run and play and is able to interact easily with humans.

She should also be allowed to exercise on a daily basis to help her keep fit and happy.

Even though she does not have an undercoat, she still needs to be groomed on a daily basis to keep the loose fur out of her coat. By neglecting to this, the coat usually tangles and knots very quickly.

Tiffany Chantilly cat other characteristics include being docile and at the same time active. These characteristics make her ideal companion for senior citizens, the physically handicapped and travelers.

Chantilly cat bonds very well with humans and has lots of love for people. The cat is loyal, gentle and a devoted companion which enjoys snuggling people and following them around the house.

Chantilly tiffany cat hates being alone for long periods and usually becomes sad when left alone for long. She is a great choice for a house mate. The Chantilly cat is also great with children and respects strangers and is never fearful.

Chantilly Cat Care:

The Chantilly cat is very easy to groom because it does not have an undercoat which usually tangles with the top coat.

It only needs a light weekly brushing session that takes care of any form of matting on its furs. It seldom sheds off its furs, and this makes it easy for it to be groomed.

Since it has full hairs on its ears, it is advisable to check the ears once a week to prevent wax build-up.

By doing this, you will be able to keep its ear canals clean and clear.

Due to her delicate digesting system, the Chantilly should not be fed on corn products which will give it digestive complications.

She should be provided with a regular and predictable diet that will take care of any digestive problems.

Pet owners should always be prepared to deal with a prolonged labor and nursing period for a Chantilly female cat. They should be able to provide special conditions for the cat during this motherhood period to ensure that the cat and its kittens are healthy and secure at all times.

The greatest news though is that the Chantilly cat is not allergic to most people as is the case with the usual cats.
